The Institut National des Métiers d'Art (INMA): a total commitment to the art trades and the promotion of exceptional know-how.
With 281 trades listed in 16 areas of activity, ranging from decoration to architecture, fashion, the performing arts, industry and cultural heritage, art trades are the heritage of precious know-how, which the Institut National des Métiers d'Art (INMA) promotes, supports and stimulates through its actions throughout the year with the general public and its professional targets.
Promoting, supporting and celebrating!
The Prix Avenir Métiers d'Art (PAMA), organised by INMA for the past 20 years, rewards and highlights young talent in the field of art and craft training and supports them in their careers. The Prix Avenir Métiers d'Art is the first and only national award for young people under 26 years of age in the art trades. It enhances the value of the training courses and is a real springboard for starting a career. This prize is currently supported by the Rémy Cointreau Foundation and the Banque Populaire.
Since 2002, the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art (JEMA) has also offered the general public a unique opportunity to meet with local and often unknown professionals in the art trades (workshops and factories) throughout France (metropolitan and overseas) and in 17 other European countries. JEMA 2022 welcomed 2 million visitors throughout France.
To support the transmission of rare and exceptional skills, INMA has also been piloting the Maîtres d'art-Elèves scheme since 2012. This is a unique programme launched by the Ministry of Culture in 1994. For three years, INMA supports the educational projects of 8 pairs of artists in the transmission of their know-how.
A Resources and Economic Intelligence Unit to inform all audiences
The activity of monitoring, resources and economic intelligence is invaluable in promoting the circulation of qualified information within the art trades and living heritage ecosystem, highlighting the issues involved and increasing the skills of experts in this field.
Thus, through its three missions, the RIE centre collects and organises information, particularly economic information, relating to the art trades and living heritage (monitoring, databases and documentary collections); produces and disseminates the knowledge necessary for the development of the trades and the professionalisation of the sector's players (monitoring letters, studies, maps, modules for discovering the trades); and assists in the design and implementation of actions to support their development.
