JAD (JARDIN DES MÉTIERS D'ART ET DU DESIGN)
The Jardin des métiers d'Art et du Design (JAD) is a place of creation, innovation and exchange dedicated to the art and design professions in western Paris.
JAD's vocation
JAD, Jardin des métiers d'Art et du Design in Sèvres, is a place designed to encourage hybridization between art and design.
A production facility dedicated to contemporary creation, the JAD has been home to some twenty craftsmen and designers since its opening in September 2022, selected through a call for applications for the excellence of their practice and the innovative approach to their craft. At JAD, they benefit from an environment and resources designed to foster their individual and collective activities.
Designed as a melting pot for learning and "mutual fertilization" through the sharing of knowledge, practices and experimentation, JAD places collaboration and transmission at the heart of its project.
This fertile dialogue between art and design is promoted through a rich cultural program, its educational offer, and mediation adapted to different audiences: schoolchildren, social and solidarity groups, adults, groups and individuals.
JAD is also a resource center for local artisans and designers, with the MakerLab and a wide range of professional events (conferences, workshops, training courses).
JAD is a project where innovation, culture and transmission converge to serve the region's professionals, creators and the general public. Beyond this, it is intended to be a marker of the Hauts-de-Seine department's commitment to contemporary creation, arts and crafts and design.
JAD's ambitions
Helping professionals establish themselves in the region
By offering economically accessible locations, a stimulating environment and support tailored to their needs, JAD affirms its determination to facilitate the establishment and business development of professionals at the cutting edge of excellence.
Encouraging collaboration between professionals
Set within an inspiring territorial framework and endowed with vast shared equipped spaces, JAD aims to encourage encounters between the two disciplines, and to foster transmission between professionals. To this end, a Collaborative Research and Innovation Program (PRIC) orchestrates a multitude of joint projects between the professionals occupying the space.
Ensuring the continuity, transmission and valorization of demanding and passionate know-how
As a laboratory of experience and a meeting place, JAD takes into account the challenges posed by the ecological and digital transition, and the need to adapt professions that have become rare. It aims to contribute to the promotion and transmission of skills that are an important part of our cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible.
To provide a forum for the discovery of collaborations between design and craft trades, and the creations that emerge from them.
The JAD bears witness to the fruitful cross-fertilization of trades, audiences and local art and cultural institutions. It is part of a policy to make culture attractive to all, offering a space for discovery, inspiration and sharing for the general public, at the heart of the Vallée de la Culture.
